It is quite difficult to imagine that our little man was assisted over
The Bridge 5 years ago (8/7/08). Difficult to imagine because this
marks the 1825th day we have thought of him! Our beloved ferret,
Blizzard, http://marksonderproductions.com/Blizzard/Ferret.html, lived
on this earth for approximately 5.5 wonderful years. Wonderful for us
and, we hope, wonderful for him as Blizzard was the ferret that went
hiking, snowshoeing, shopping, swimming in the ocean (not sure he liked
that), ate kibble and introduced him to eat "natural foods," received
daily massages, and was almost always hand fed by us. We tried every
day to introduce him to a new smell and a new sight. We spoke often
about his vision for the future and he knew his name and would "come."
This was our story. Hopefully his story continues as at the tail end
of 2008 (Christmas Eve), we set up and made the original contribution
to the Blizzard Memorial Fund administered through the fine people at
Support Our Shelters (http://www.supportourshelters.org). To date,
according to SOS, the BMF has taken in $13,215 and has disbursed to
ferret shelters/veterinarians $8300. Presently the BMF has over $4900
in is "bank" for future abused or medically referred ferrets in need.
We are very proud of this fund and know that a number of ferrets have
been named/renamed "Blizzard" in honor of our little man. And so, 5
years after his death, Blizzard is still alive!
