Dear Mr. Ed-

I do test my ferrets for deafness when I bring them home. I use some
very specialized and hi-tech equipment to do so. Mine is made by
Farberware, and is multi-purpose. It does a "bang-up" (little pun
there) job of letting me know if my ferrets can hear. The rest of the
time, I use it for cooking. The dog just hates, hates the testing
procress. The cat flees like his furry little ass is on fire. He
blows out through the cat door and hits the ground running.

Interstingly, the ferrets use the same technique to test my hearing.
When I hear the crash and clatter of cascading stainless steel against
the kitchen floor I know that the ferrets have gotten into the
forbidden cabinet where the testing equipment is kept. They think that
this is great fun. I worry about scratching the teflon so I frown on
this.
