If hard you would think of lymphoma, but when soft they are something a
local infection (so check mouth, throat, and chest), or even just fat.
There is a photo of Beasley, a ferret of Mike Janke's, who had a lot of
fat there on the home page of the FHL which can serve as an example.
You all know how very careful Mike was and that he had ferret expert
vets, so they knew for sure what this was.

Some ferrets also simply have their nodes sort of riding high, kind of
"popped". Our Meeteetse was like that life-long.

Hard nodes can be caused by lymphoma or by a bad infection.
