30% is not bad, especially if you have all older ferrets.  But kits and young
adults will do better on 32%+.  As long as they are getting poultry protein,
and not grain protein.
 
Try a mix of Nutro regular Cat or Kitten in with the Natural Max Cat to boost
the protein.  There is also not really enough fat in the Natural Nutro
products (ferrets should have 18-22%, especially if growing).  Try a mix of
two - the ferrets will eat what their body needs and IF Riley has any
problems, he should see the vet again.
