Okay, this is an update. No one has a time-frame for when the work will
be done; so think in terms of years away and be pleasantly surprised if
it is faster. Anyway, today I spoke with a pathologist at the National
Zoo following up on if Merial decided to go ahead with the Recombitant CDV
Vaccine testing and they have. It's a product expected to be very
important to zoos and for conservation efforts (esp. the large felids --
great news since some lion populations have been seriously impacted at
times by Canine Distemper), and to ferrets. Right now about 20 locations
are doing the testing for zoo animals. The reason this vaccine is
important to the ferret community is because, unlike the existing options,
there is not expected to be a reaction risk.
