Married to the same woman for 12 years, this speaker has earned the
respect of ferret owners and lovers around the world. His interest in
ferrets was aroused many years ago when two were rescued at Ft. Meade
and surrendered to the local veterinarian. At the time there was a
law requiring wild animals to be euthanised and it did not appear to
be fair for these loving little critters.

Besides, when you consider that the menagerie had already included deer,
blue herons, a sea lion and even a vegetarian land-dwelling nutria known
as a hutia, what s a weasel or two? With the vet practice overrunning
the yard, it was often necessary to keep the wildlife in the home.

The sea lion joined the family following a hurricane. When its local
home was destroyed, it wandered into the area and remained. Still there
when the family was transferred out of the area, it seemed happy with
its new home and single status, it was reported!

Professionally, this speaker became interested on a professional level
while serving his residency in veterinary pathology. Acquaintances in
the ferret community asked him to look at some ferret tissues. The rest,
as they say, is history! A consultant at the national zoo, this vet
consults for anyone who asks!

Wife Colleen has long been a stay at home mom to a variety of critters,
including the current parrots, guinea pigs, ferrets and the usual cats
and dogs. For the past 4= years, this job has included skin kid Conner.
Conner is the typical vet s kid and loves all animals.

Although he travels frequently on business, the family stays around home.
With so many animals there is little time to get away. There is a goal
in the picture however. Next year the family looks forward to traveling
to Australia and meeting the Crocodile Hunter.

While Colleen loves snow skiing and photography, this vet spends his free
time on the internet or painting. As a distance runner he is in rehab
following knee surgery. He looks forward to the day he will be able to
run once more. Like most families, however, for fun they do whatever a
4 year old wants to do.

If you can catch him, run on up to Bruce Williams and talk about books
and movies of the same title. However, you may not have seen his
favorite, The Bishop s Wife starring Cary Grant. Hey, anyone who likes
Cary Grant is a friend of mine!
