I have been in contact with the Cherokee Ferret Shelter in Omaha, Nebraska.
The shelter operator had pneumonia in January and that has put him in a
weakened condition.  He has COPD and is unable to do any amount of
sustained work.  This condition has put him in a crisis situation.  Either
he cares for the ferrets only, and cannot get employed, thus falling
behind in bills.  Or he does minimal ferret care (impossible for him to
even conceive of) and is able to try to find some gainful employment.
 
His situation is critical for his health and financial stability.
