The biggest concern I have about leaving my critters outdoors isn't always
temperature.  It's other animals getting into their area and harming them.
Crazies who poison pets for fun.  Psychos who toss tainted products into
other people's yards.  Theft of a beloved pet.  Abuse of that pet by the
ignorant, the kids or neighbours.
 
I strongly recommend never leaving ANY pet out-of-doors unsupervised.  Many
years ago, having worked for the local SPCA for 2 years, I learned many
harsh lessons about cruelty, that's the foundation of my advice to you.
