Those of you who are really bothered by anthropomorphizing, skip this...

I just wanted to share how grateful I am to my ferret girl Amelia. Our
ferrets often remind us of the joys in life (Carla, I really liked your
song), and Amelia just gave me an enormous boost. Last night I basically
gave my husband his walking papers (told him he had to be gone by March 17,
which seemed appropriate; St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland, I'm
driving one out of my apartment). It was tense and highly emotional, and a
struggle to stay calm and not start screaming at each other. As soon as we
had sat down in the living room, Amelia woke up, came up to me, and cuddled
in my lap until we were done talking. She was actually hugging me with her
little arms. I believe she knew how upset I was and wanted to comfort me
like I was another ferret, by cuddling. It was also like she was saying she
trusted me to do the right thing. OK, I know, she was sleepy and I was
warm, but I am just so thankful that I have her here with me now. It makes
it all a little bit easier. So, Amelia, and all the other ferrets who love
their people and help them through hard times, THANK YOU.

Amelia: Ah shucks mom
Cully: well, I would have cuddled, except that, um, I don't cuddle
