for all who have been following, here's latest word from pixie central:

first off, a public thanks to dr manobla and everyone at beaver brook
pet center for all they've done and are doing for pixie! and bless
them, they didn't charge for the recheck yesterday...so wonderful.

here's where things stand...the foot has regenerated as much as it's
going to. we're going to have to amputate part of it, and to have
enough for a 'flap' and pad of fat, it's going to have to be at the
hock. so she won't lose all the leg, only about half. still, not a
totally happy ending, but i have been told here and otherwise that they
adjust and adapt fine. she'll also lose about 3/4 of her tail; same
thing; injury's only to about half of it, but the vet will need enough
tissue to fashion an 'end' on it. her front foot still needs to be
watched. she's liable to lose some toes, but hopefully only sloughing
off like bad frostbite, not needing actual amputation (crossing
fingers). we're just so grateful she lived through this whole ordeal.
it's going to be an adjustment on everyone's part.

we haven't scheduled surgery just yet; there's some time now that
things are about as far as they're going to go, and we need to figure
out where the money's going to come from. this procedure is estimated
to run about half-again what we've already spent for her. :(

so, once again, i'm putting out an appeal for aid to any who may be
interested (and i also want to give a huge, huge, *huge* thanks to
those who already have helped; your generosity is so very much
appreciated!) :)

i have an etsy shop online; i make loom-knitted caps by hand and am
offering them for sale to help raise money for pixie's vet bills. they
