  (BIG, Ms. Carley gave permission to use her name).
 To all of you letter-writing and phone-calling animals, chomping at the bit,
relishing the opportunity to flood our state senators and assemblymen with
pro ferret information and propaganda, here's the paraphrased scoop,
according to Jeanne Carley at the CDFA:
  IF, and ONLY IF you live in CA;

DO find the name and address of your state senator and assemblyman.
DO write them of your displeasure over our silly law.
DO criticize the Dept. of Fish & Game if you feel you have to vent some
anger.
DO encourage friends, family, enemies, anyone who is a legal resident of CA,
to write THEIR representatives on behalf of ferret legalization.
DO include your name and address.

DO NOT admit to ownership of ferrets.
DO NOT write or call anonymously.
DO NOT attack Mr. Brown or anyone else with a vote in the Senate or Assembly.

  Out of staters;

 Ms. Carley emphasized that CA address within the particular rep's district
would carry more weight, but that if you've ever had an unpleasant experience
with CA Fish & Game, such as seizure of your pet, then use it. The tone of
the letter might be "...and I'm never vacationing in CA again until they
change that silly law..." The applicable do's and dont's remain in play (you
*can* admit ownership, of course) except your letters go to:
                         Sen. Quentin L. Kopp, Room 2057
                         State Capital, Sacramento, CA
                                   95814
and/or
                         Sen. Tom Haydyn, Room 2048
                         State Capital, Sacramento, CA
                                   95814
  Sen. Kopp introduced the bill, and I believe Sen. Haydyn is with us too, so
no need for a hammer w/them. Fish & Game is the big bad (and incredibly
DUMB) guy in this silliness.
