My hubby made a large shelf out of plywood (covered with carpet) that fits
in our Midwest cage one 'square' below the top door and butts up against
the backside of the ladder (between the top and middle shelf). To hold the
shelf up in the cage, he used 3" screws that he only screwed into the side
about 2 1/2". This makes it easy for me to remove while making it
impossible for my ferts to do so!

I imagine that you could cover it with linoleum if you like, but my guys
seem to like the carpet (I vacuum it regularly, so it's in good condition).
My babies love their shelf...it's large enough to put two sleep sacks, plus
it makes me feel more at ease knowing they aren't going to fall.

If anyone would like a picture (sometimes it's hard to visualize stuff like
this - especially with me trying to explain it!) email me!

Bright Blessings,
:o)
