Hello everyone,
 
Ten minuutes ago, at 8:50 P.M., Karis, from Assemblymember Cunneen's office
called to say that AB 854 was called up by the leadership and passed the
Assembly floor by a 70-9 vote.  The leadership suspended the rules in order
to move some bills through quickly and apparently decided to work very late
tonight.
 
I don't have the particulars of the vote yet, so please don't ask me!
 
Anyway, as you all know, this is a very restrictive bill that has a study
requiring an appropriation of funds, and it has a very good chance of dying
in the Senate without a ton of hard work from everyone.  Go ahead and
celebrate tonight (or this weekend), you've earned it, but don't kid
yourself about what this vote means in the long run.  We've done well in
the Assembly before and died in the Senate.  Your State Senators need to
hear from you and all your friends and family that ferrets should be
legalized in CA as they are in the other 48 states.
