My ferret Oscar has been with my family since October 3rd, 1998.  We do not
know anyone that has a ferret and had never been around one.  We kept Oscar
in a cage until he got used to us and vice verser!  He now his run of our
home.  We have ferret proofed the cabinets and draws in our kitchen and
bathrooms.  (We learned that real fast!) Oscar sleeps in one of my dresser
draws or in bed with me or one of my children.
 
I do have afew questions.
(1). Oscar does like to chew on rubber things and after I read the article
in the digest last night I became concerned.  I am unable to keep everything
away from him. (shoes, brushes,my couch, etc.)  Should I take him in to the
vet and have him checked?
 
(2). I live outside Baton Rouge, La., If there is anyone reading this from
my area please e-mail me.  I have a vet I use for my dogs but he is not real
familiar with ferrets.  Any names?
 
(3).  I feed Oscar only Science diet kitten food and raisins and banana
ferret treats.  What else do they like?  And should I add other things to
his diet?
 
If anyone answers this Thank You.  I need more information.  I will continue
to read this digest daily.  I love my Oscar and I want to keep him happy and
healthy for a long time.  What is the life span fo ferrets?
