I, too, feel very bad for the bat.  Bats are important and very sensitive
and beautiful animals.  They're important to the ecosystem and get a bad
rap because people are afraid of them (though, I, too, would not try to
pick one up unprotected).  Is there a way you can prevent bats from
getting into your house and within reach of the ferrets again?
