In this issue of the FML, you should see a letter from Jeanne Carley, as
well as a copy of a letter I sent to the editor of those publications.

You know I rarely ask the membership of the FML to do anything, but this
time I *AM* asking that this harmful misrepresentation of ferrets not be
overlooked. Please do as much of the following as your heart allows or
directs you to do.

1) Please write the people who advertise in Ferrets or thier other
publications to remove their ads. Carefully explain the problem is a photo
which depicts an event which is untrue, and which has also been
electronically changed to make that depiction seem more real.

2) Write the board of Ferrets and their other publications telling them how
such a photo and caption is damaging to ferret legalization issues, and how
disapointed you are in their editor's lack of ferret knowledge.

3) Do not write for these publications. It is obvious you will not have the
editorial control to prevent your work from being editorialized or otherwise
misrepresented.

4) Do not buy these publication.

5) Take the matter to your clubs and shelters, and ask them express their
views in the matter. Ask them to boycott the publication, as well as to
write letters to the publication and advertizers.

6) Please publish Jeanne's and my letters in your club bulletins (or
extracts thereof).

I do not ask these favors lightly. You all know I have, until this time,
*never* rated a ferret book or publication because I felt they were all more
or less positive. In this case, the potiential damage from the publication
of such a picture is more than we can bear. We must do something. Please
use as much of your influence and strength as your heart will allow to
combat this obvious attempt at profiteering from a publishing house that
cares not a twit about serious ferret issues.
