I have read extensively (about 20 books) since getting my first ferret in
May ( I now have 4!! somebody help me stop!). Most ferrets bought have
already had their 1st distemper shot. If they are under 3-4 months old
they should have 2 additional distemper shots and 1 rabies shot. My 1st
3 boys were over 3 months old and I only got them 1 additional distemper
shot and a rabies shot. Many books say not to give the distemper and
rabies at the same time however the my vet gave them both at the same
time (I questioned her and she said its ok to do that) and we stayed in
the vets office for 30 minutes to make sure there were no reactions. I
also took a stool sample in to be checked for parasites. My boys did
fine and it saved me the 2nd office visit. However I have just gotten a
baby, 2 1/2 months old and I will be getting him a distemper shot and
then in 3 weeks another distemper shot plus his rabies shot. Marshall's
care instructions state "We highly recommend the full series of
additional vaccinations (distemper) at 9, 12, and 16 weeks of age and
then annually. Ferrets should also receive a rabies vaccination after
13 weeks of age."

It is expensive to go to the vet but absolutley get them their shots!
Good luck!
