This morning I put Jeep out on the back porch like I do every day in
warm weather. Today when I went back out there he kept following me
around and was indicating he wanted back inside which usually means
back in his cage. He knows that drill very well so I assumed he wanted
'in' again. But he loves being free out on that porch and he had only
been there a very short time.

Do I kept my presence and for sure Jeep was 'telling' me he wanted in
right away. Then I noticed his stainless steel water dish was dry! He
was thirsty and needed a drink! He could not tell me that but he could
tell me he wanted back into his cage where there awaited at least a
gallon of good clean water. That is what he wanted.

So I got a group of dihydrous oxide in a containment vessel and
installed that into his bowl. Immediately he ran to it the instant he
heard all that liquid hit the metal and he began sucking that stuff
down his gut. Yes, he was thirsty and that is what he was trying to
tell me! I finally got the message and Jeep went on as usual not
'asking' to get inside any more.

Ferrets will tell you what is on their mind if you take the time to
figure out what they are saying to you. They talk to you allt he time,
you just have to learn their language. They jabber constantly and never
offer negative comments.
