Hi Diane.
Don't feel alone cuz for while I to was unsure of ferrets.  But once we got
one I had to have 2 the 3 now I have 7 of these wonderful little creatures.
I like to call mine Pillow Piranhas, cuz they get in my pillow cases and
nibble up and down our legs and body.  My husband always wanted one when
he was a boy and when we got our first he was so excited and of course so
was I.  I also did not like Bulldogs,and we had the most wonderful old man
named Benny.  He was 12 1/2 when he finally had to be let go.  So unless
we get the info one these little ones we become afraid of something for
the wrong reasons.  And some of the articles I have read lately on Ferrets
would have any one afraid.  So you are right we need to get the right info
out to people,cuz these little ones are being misrepresented by Doctors
that no nothing about them, hell the are humane Doctors at that.  The sad
thing is, is that people listen to him cuz he is a Doctor.  So we as ferret
lovers need to let other know that they really are great pets and loveable
in every sense.
