liver problems

My vet has told me that my ferret's liver is on it's way out and that my
ferret only has 6 months to one year to live.  He also told me that there
is not much he can do for a failing liver.
 
Has anyone out there had a ferret with liver problems?  And if so, is there
anything that can be done for it?
