Bridgett's adrenal surgery went very well. The left adrenal gland was
removed, and there were no complications. She was awake and alert when we
picked her up. It's amazing how well she could navigate around her cage so
soon after major surgery.

Dr. Weiss also examined Ben and looked at her x-rays. Last week our other
vet thought Ben's left kidney was enlarged. Dr. Weiss agreed, saying it was
two to three times the size it should be. He said there could be multiple
cysts in her kidney. The kidney values on recent blood tests were normal,
and we're waiting for the results of a urinalysis. It looks like Ben may
need surgery too. This will be our third ferret surgery since October.

Jerry, who had adrenal/insulinoma surgery in October and is suffering from
kidney failure and recurrent adrenal symptoms, is hanging in there. She
was much worse for about a week earlier in the month, but now she is better,
although not as good as she was in December. I think the Winstrol is
helping her appetite and making her stronger. Just this evening, she broke
into that bouncy ferret gait for a short distance.

Best wishes to all the sick and recovering ferrets,

Clare and Bill Sebok
