In 1988/1989 CA Fish and Game estimated over 500,000  (that's 1/2 million)
illegal ferrets in this state.  They have since corrected this number to
their current estimate of in excess of 100,000.
As a member of the CDFA and a resident of CA I can tell you that their 1/2
million estimate 5 years ago is more likely the current number.  No one I
know that has these illegal aliens in their home only has one...most have 3-5
min.  And that's only those that have come out of the closet..
You figure the numbers folks...
Personally I feel we have the largest ferret population in the US....but I
might be prejudiced.
