I originally wrote that mice are bad for pets to eat because they can pick
up tapeworms from them.

Todd wrote back that this is not true - he said that tapeworms come from
eating fleas - not from eating mice. That is both a true and false
statement. There are 2 types of tapeworms that our pets commonly get:
Taenia species and Dipylidium species. Taenia tapeworms come from eating
rodents and rabbits. Dipylidium tapeworms come from eating fleas.

So my original statement of why your cat/dog/ferret should not eat mice is
correct.
