As promised, my vet uses a small dose of injectable Buprenex for pain
relief following surgery.  I'm guessing it also has a sedative because
the ferret is quiet for about 48 hours after administering the drug.
 
Please ask your vet to prescribe pain relief following any procedure in
which a similar procedure in humans would cause pain.
