Hi All!  Well I am not new to the list, okay well I don't post I just read
and learn.  so, My name is Michelle and I own four fuzzies...
 
---Oscar 5 or 6 yrs old
---Miko 2 years old
---Tinker 3 years old
---Tiny about 3 years old
 
I am relatively new to ferrets and I have a problem.  Oscar my sweet baby
is sick.  He is pleasantly plump (nice way to put it) and has been coughing
a lot.  Yesterday he must have coughed and wheezed for like 5 minutes.  I
don't know what is wrong with him.  When he does this I just pick him up
and hold him and comfort him.
 
The one problem is I am usually the only one who hears him.  It's not all
the time (coughing)and so I am with the ferrets most of the time.  My
boyfriend has heard him once or twice and that's it.  Anyone have any
advice?  I am making an appointment for him this week at the vet.  I live
in NB, Canada and there are really no vets especially for ferrets, but I
do have a great doctor for them who treats exotic animals and is wise and
wonderful.
 
I was thinking maybe it was because before I got Oscar he lived with a
smoker.  I smoke, but never around the animals.  I always go outside.
Oscar was also abused at the pet store he was at.  The previous owner of
Oscar rescued him.  She went in one day and saw Oscar being kicked.  They
also sawed off his eye teeth (the front pointy ones) he sometimes has
trouble eating.
 
Any advice would be appreciated.  Sorry this was not a freindly little
letter.  Next time for sure.
