Our shelter has been hit hard with ECE, and so far we've been able to deal
with it pretty well. However, we've got one ferret who is not doing well
at all. He is a 6 year old male, who got ECE, and then got ulcers, was
treated for the ulcers for two weeks, and seemed to be getting better. His
stools were still a little more liquid than solid, but he was eating and
drinking and seemed to be pretty active for a 6 year old. Now, however, he
is developing ECE again and we're kind of at a loss as to how to treat him.
We treated him with Clavamox, Bactrim (sulfatrim suspension) and Pepto
Bismol for the ECE, then switched to Amoxi, Pepto, Cimetidine (tagamet),
and Metronidazole (flagyl) for the ulcers. Another problem we're having is
that it is SO stressful for him to take his medicine - he starts squiriming
and pawing at his mouth as soon as he sees the medicine bottle.

Any ideas would be welcomed.
