Hello ferrety friends! Last Sunday was the 1 year anniversary of the
Paris rescue. Mommie was pretty ill, she's not been feeling so good
these last few weeks, but she really wanted to do sumpthin nice for the
last 4 kids that were at the shelter. a few nice pewple at the fert
store board suggested a rice box. mommie tried to order rice from the
grocery delivery pewple, but they were outta stock. so, she pulled out
the recycle box, full of all kinds of stuff the volunteers had collected
for two whole weeks and Elvis, Hardy, Connor and Pandora went NUTZ
swimming through all the take-away boxes, cardboard boxes, coffee cups
and paper plates!!! it made mommie happy to see the poor remaining
Paris kids so happy after all the sadness they survived.

mommie has a special note to auntie Bonnie and uncle Nigel. "nothing
makes you feel more loved than TWO phone calls from your trusted
LONG-TERM volunteers on their 1st day off in a long time!"

to explain... mommie and auntie Jenn decided to give auntie Bonnie and
uncle Nigel the day off on Saturday. the pair ( B & N) come in EVERY
Saturday and have been for almost FIVE years. They have only missed one
or two Saturdays in the history of their volunteer time at the shelter so
it was time for a forced day off. Well, they don't take too well to time
off. mommie got TWO calls on Saturday from the pair. One from Bonnie,
the other from Nigel. It made mommie feel nice. it's not often anyone
misses mommie (though i'm sure it was the ferrets that were being missed,
let mommie have her fantasy k?!)

Sad news, Dork and Boon are coming back to the shelter, they were from
the Paris rescue from last year and Rufus, their friend is coming with
them. Boon was a favorite of mommy's. he was named after a fairy. a
fairy that steals a child's bad dreams, takes them away so they don't
have to experience them. Now Boon will be experiencing his own bad
dream all over again, coming back to the shelter. at least it's not a
nightmare - going back to the breeder who abused him, a year ago this
month.

On a lighter note, Fitz our cutie pie was ADOPTED this week!!!! Mommie
went on a tangency last week. Kinda lost it when she remembered his
teeth were cut out from a cruel breeder. Remembering how when he came
in he was kinda thin, dull coat and having his teeth clipped out. Well
anyway, he grew into a BEAUTIFUL, big boy and has now found a loving and
caring home to call his own with a sister who used to call our shelter
home too. Caravella can now call Fitz her brother :)

Holly Berry, Santa Paws and Short Bread are all doing wonderfully!
Mommie and the other volunteers are all very impressed with their
progress. they are all still sad to see how Santa reacts when you move
too quickly around him but all in all, the trio have really come around.
Of course all three have learned to steer clear of mommie and her kissing
fetish. i swear she needs SERIOUS help for her addiction. Santa closes
his eyes when mommie picks him up. You know, mommie REALLY thought
something was WRONG with his eyes? She was actually going to TAKE him to
the vet? It took auntie Jenn to point out to her that MAYBE he was just
shutting his eyes when mommie kissed him to block her out! You know like
closing his eyes and going into his "special place" he doesn't close them
any other time lol!!!

Auntie Shannan pointed out a sad thing to mommie. We have a "Christmas"
play group. Santa Paws, Holly Berry, Short Bread, Frosty, Twilight,
Blitzen and once the "holidays" are over she thinks no one will want to
adopt a Christmas name fert! while it's true that it's gonna be hard
for Santa, Holly and Short as they are a trio, who wouldn't want to have
Christmas kids all year long???? I DARE YOU, no, make that a DOUBLE
dare YOU....YA YOU to show up at the ADOPT-A-THON and adopt the CHRISTMAS
kids AFTER Christmas and PROVE auntie Shannan WRONG. Come by on SUNDAY
JANUARY 1 between 3-5 pm and fill out an application for one of the
CHRISTMAS kids or PARIS kids and WIN great prizes (IF approved for
application). Prove auntie Shannan wrong. Let her and every humbug know
that Christmas CAN last ALL year long!!!!! Especially when you are the
proud parent of one of the FAS's Christmas or Paris rescue kids :) :)

i DARE you...

i wish i could wrap my paws around each and every one of you and share
my love and warmth. i wish i could take all the pains away and bring joy
to you all even if it was just for one day. i wish i could take illness
away and heal the ill and bring you all happiness and lasting family
love. You are all in my heart, it's big enough to carry you all,

May none of you be alone this Christmas and if you are, may you all have
the love of a furry friend,
