Yes, ferrets do get the hiccups. Some seem to be more prone to them than
others. We have one little girl, Tripod, that seems to get them
frequently. Then, I was told to help stop them to give her a little
Ferretone. The treat distracts her and the hiccups go away. (I've also
been told this works with human babies, too... well, not Ferretone, but a
cool cloth on their forehead or something else to distract them... will
find out about that soon enough.) Anyway, back to Tripod. She actually
learned that she gets a treat when she has the hiccups and will FAKE them
to get the Ferretone. She sits at your feet, waits to get your attention
and then sorta shrugs her shoulders to fake a hiccup. We usually give in
and give her the treat just because she's so cute ... Yes, she has us
trained just the way she wants.
