Pop-can the (real) weasel escaped from his cage the week before last.
Evidently we were about an hour late with his food ... Weasels get
*very* hyper when they're hungry. He managed to force his way out of
his hamster cage and into our garage and outside. We left food in the
garage for several days just in case, but he was evidently long gone.
He should be okay - we're less than a 100 yards from open country. He
had grown quite a bit. We were intending to release him at the end of
the week. Changing his cage was getting to be quite a terrifying
experience.... He was developing an impressive threat posture and
a spectacular screech ... A far cry from the scared squeak he had
when we rescued him from the pool drain.

Mocha now looks a little like Frankenstein... Over the past couple of
months she developed some sort of abcess just above her left eye. I had
drained it a couple of times (clear fluid), but it kept coming back.
So, into the vet she went. He excised whatever it was (samples have
gone off for lab analysis) and now Mocha has a line of stitches from
one eyebrow almost all the way to the other... Talk about looking silly.
Hasn't slowed her down none...
