Tatooed Ears and Marshall Farms-
It is MY Understanding that the Tatooed Ears will soon be a thing of the
past at Marshall Farms.  It was largely an internal indicator of status.
There appears to be at least ONE (and possibly more) breeder using tatoos in
their ferrets ears.  (One, I'm told is using them purposely to defraud the
public into thinking that the ferrets they tatoo are from MF.This is the
breeder that sells ferrets with incomplete spay/neuter/descenting.  ) Unless
you get some documentation from MF with your ferret (and this in itself may
not be proof), you may not be getting a counterfeit MF ferret.  The only way
to be sure is to get yours as a kit from a private breeder of note.

It should be noted that sometimes the anonymous posters are using the
anon services (or asking BIG to make their postings anon) because they
live in an FFZ (Ferret Free Zone) and don't want the  authorities to
know who or where they are.
