In the morning when I come into the kitchen, two ferrets are watching and
listening.
 
Fannie, who is deaf, eagerly watches for the light to increase and human
movement near her cage.
 
Old Phoebe, who has gone blind, listens for footsteps, the refrigerator
door closing and water running in the sink.
 
Both can smell the coffee brewing and the banana being peeled.
 
Both get excited to come out and do their favorite things, and that's
another post.
