The Eugene Oregon Shelter posted last week here, that they were
closing & all ferrets to go to Chris Mathis (Oregon City Shelter) unless
someone wanted to "take over ...

Thank God these kids were to be released to Chris."

This doesn't appear to be a "breaking and entering and stealing of
ferrets" situation. From what the above that was posted on the FML
states, it appears that Chris was to get those ferrets anyway, unless
someone else stepped in to take them. NO ELSE ONE STEPPED IN, but
Kristine stepped up to offer assistance to Chris.

It appears that people are making this situation out to be something it
is not. Chris and Kristine appear to be being accused of something they
did not do. THEY DID NOT STEAL THOSE FERRETS. The ferrets were given to
them.

I think it's a mute point to call animal control. The ferrets went to
whom they were supposed to as planned. I'd read the shelter op didn't
want to run the shelter anymore, and had been wanting out for 2 years. I
don't think there is a threat of her setting up shop in the near future.

I have also read the Chris and Kristine didn't have any idea that they
were going to walk into the horrid conditions they did, and, therefore,
did not go prepared to acquire evidence to turn someone into animal
control or any other authorities.

The fact is that these animals were surrendered to Chris and Kristine
freely. Yes, the conditions the ferrets were in were way less desirable
than Chris and Kristine had hoped to find them in, but the ferrets were
surrendered.

There is nothing to argue regarding this situation. The ferrets are in
better places and receiving the care they need. Instead of bickering
about a done deal, spend that energy on making some bedding for those
ferrets, getting a few things together to send to one or both shelters,
or doing some fund raising to help these shelter ops and ferrets out.
Nothing can be done about the way what turned out to be a rescue went.
Chris and Kristine are angels for taking in those ferrets. I doubt the
ferrets would be alive today had Chris not made arrangements to pick them
up. Neither Chris, Kristine nor the ferrets need a bunch of people who
were not there to passing judgment on them and playing shoulda, woulda,
coulda.
