I'm rooting for the mink. He's just trying to stash the unsightly,
gas-guzzling speed boats. I saw a mink one white snowy day by the side
of the road when I was driving. We stopped. He was black and lushly
furred with a tiny white star on his throat. I was crossing the road
through *his* iced-over swamp. He looked at me very regally as if to
say "You may pass, hoomin..." He stepped behind a tangle of low-bush
blueberry and was gone, leaving us all feeling...wonderful. As if we
had found money on the ground. Lots of it.
