Kymberlie is definitely correct that vets are only right about a subject if
they know their subject matter. I should have mentioned that the animal
hospital I go to is one of the three (possibly four) in the Metro Toronto
area (in southern Ontario) that specializes in exotics. They keep books and
journals on site to refer to, attend conferences, and have an on-going
relationship with the Vet College at the University of Guelph.

I should also point out that even within a practice such as this one which
has five vets, some vets are more specialized than others in treating
particular kinds of critters. So if you have the luxury of choosing (and I
wish that everyone did), try to pinpoint the vet within a practice who is
exactly right for your fuzzbutt.

If anyone in the Toronto area wants details about the practice, please
e-mail me directly.
