i usually dont bother to write when someone's ferret dies- not because it
doesnt touch me, but because it happens so often on this list that i feel
like its hard to be personal to everyone's loss. Drag's story really
touched me, however. i feel like i lost one of my own and i never even
met him. he was a lucky boy- even if only for a while. This list gets
depressing and is full of death- i hate hearing about an animal that doesnt
get to lead a long, full, happy life, but that's the way it has to be
because this list is full of humans who are so giving, so compassionate,
and so eager to save every little fuzzy life, no matter how insignificant
it is to someone else.

drag died too early because someone was cruel and heartless. but he also
lived longer than he would have, because someone loved him and gave him
so much. what happened to him before was terrible, and should never happen
to any creature (except maybe the one who slammed him in the door in the
first place), but the love that was given and the fight that was fought for
him in this short time was so much more than what many pets(not ours, of
course) who are not victims of cruelty get in a lifetime. and that counts.
lets love and fight for guys like drag who have had it really rough, and
lets also love and fight for the guys out there who are always fed, always
watered, and have never had a cruel blow in their lives but are slightly
ignored and have never known someone to love them intensely.my mollie
knows it, my cody knows it.

we cant save them all, but if you see an older ferret at a store or
shelter, and its not possible to take him, or you run into a stray dog
that smells when you touch it and maybe you'd rather not deal with it,
give them 5 minutes of your time, love them for 5 minutes, in case they
never feel it again. let them feel like drag did for the last part of
his life, just in case he never feels it again. it will count. it will
always count. even if it doesnt count to the type that likes to slam
innocent creatures in doors. it will count to the drags in the world.

i'm sorry about your loss.
