Rough draft, but here it is, wrote many while I was immobilized.
 
I guess I am just a throw away pet
One who was bought but later was a regret
I have been left all alone for so long it seems
That companionship seems like a dream.
So one day you thought it would be for the best
To let me lose, in your mind it was for the best
But I was scared and knew not what to do.
So I ran to the first person I saw
 And that person was you.
You held me and said what a skinny little boy
So you took me and feed me and filled me with joy
Now I was lucky there is no doubt,
To many have not made it when they have been thrown out.
Do not think because we have four legs,
We all know how in the wilds to behave.
Give a chance to live without fear,
Give us to a shelter that's why they are here.
