I have tried signing on to FHL several times. Have a Yahoo ID and still
can't do it. It says I cannot post. Can anyone help me?

Rocky has insulinoma (diagnosed in March) and the previous vet started
him on 1ml prednisolone (5mg/5ml) twice a day and went up to 1.5. He
gained a lot of weight and wasn't any more active, though his hind
legs got stronger.

I went to a more experienced vet who has taken him down on pred .2ml
and he's now on diazoxide .2ml. He is still gaining weight. He has
gained a total of 1 lb. (50% of his normal body weight in summer). he
tries to be active but can't, probably because he's so fat in his lower
body. He does not have heart problems (x-ray and echocardiogram) or
other abdominal problems (x-ray). The vet said it was just "bloat" and
that it should go down as the pred goes down, but it's not. he's only
been on the above doses for 2 wks. Before that, he was on .5ml pred
and .1 diazoxide.

He isn't eating that much. About 3 cubes of watery Bob's CG, some
chicken and a tsp. of cream with his meds. A treat or two a day. Yet
he still seems to be getting bigger.

I read in a drug handbook for people that diazoxide causes weight gain
also.

Does anyone know what I can do to get his weight down.

Thanks,
Shron & Rocky
