Hi--

Miss Suki is home from a visit to her foster home with Kim. She has 3 baby
ferrets who are now 10 wks old and adorable beyond belief. The kits are to
stay with Kim who will try to place them, and Miss Suki is home to me.

These babies aren't spawn of Satan or the demon children I've come to
expect from my little bit of breeding experience. They're changlings.
Left in the place of Suki's original brood. They must be being good,
buecause they want to convince Kim to become a breeder.

I had a 10 wk old kit go to sleep in my arms. Another kissed Kim and
didn't try to bite her nose or get out of her arms to run off and play.
They actually use the litter box and don't go on every empty shelf and
floor space. They didn't come boiling out of the cage like a flow of
lava and run in 3 different directions. They politely waited at the door.
Most suspicious of all, they don't attack bare feet and bite toes. (unless
your the cat of course.)

I've raised 3 other litters of kits and I'll tell you this is just
unnuatural.

Miss Suki is now home, none the worse for wear during her visit to Kim's
while I was recovering from the last of my illness. I returned her to her
former cage and cage mates. After a brief butt sniffing party, they let
her pile in to sleep, just like she hasn't been gone for almost 3 months.

Mixed news with some of the rest of the crew

9 yr old Lucky's weight loss was neatly explained away by bad teeth. Vet
didn't see any other health problems. He goes in Monday for a bit of
dental surgery and teeth cleaning.

Willie isn't going to be so lucky. Willie is an insulinomic rescue dropped
off in August, that could barely walk and was in bad health when I got him.
Instead of sending him off to foster care, The family and I took on hand
feeding him and getting him to the vet.

Willie has been with us 2 mos. His health and weight are stable and he is
alert and interested in the world. He lives on meds, won't give up his
cheap kitten chow, and it is a battle to keep his weight on him. He no
longer needs to be fed around the clock, and eats both his cheap food and
duck soup on his own. He's resigned to his 2x daily dose of meds and no
longer fights it.

He isn't a candidate for surgery for the insulinomia or his cancer and it
is only time until he loses his battle. I know he'd been dead by now if he
hadn't been brought to me. I feel so bad he has to come to me at the end
of his life instead of earlier when he still might have had a chance to
recover a bit more is something I can't control.

Dan and I have decided to revive the ferretry's name, Celtic Ferret, for
our ebay auctions to fund raise for our ferret's care, and other ferret
causes.
