Ok, one other thing about Idgie's seedy stools. Mia has posted a note on
Idgie's history and told me that Idgie's poops never really quit being
seedy or mucousy. Could it be that her system is just not very efficient
since she got so sick? Should I still be treating her for an ulcer even
though she hasn't been grinding her teeth or anything. She may seem a
little more lethargic than when she first got here, but not much. To
everyone's quick response that it could be ECE I don't think so because she
has been eating well and not throwing up at all. I guess it is possible
that Lisa may have been exposed and was carrying it and shed it to Idgie.
That would explain why Lisa has shown no problems with her stools. Lisa
was exposed to another ferret two years ago for a summer. Idgie has had a
couple of green loose stools but then they go back to the brown seedy stuff
(again Mia said she has had that ever since her sickness). Lastly to
repeat, Idgie has been with us since June 10 of this year. If I took her
to the vet, what should I have him check for??? This vet here does not
sound as if he knows just a whole heck of alot about ferrets even though he
is the one "exotic" vet that everyone gets referred to. Thanks again
Debbie, Pam and Dr. Williams for responding to this situation. I am
especially glad I wrote since it looks like this sort of situation helps
point out that regardless of how careful we should be with looking for ECE
we should not always jump to the worse conclusion!:)
We all Thank you again,
Lindy and her sweet fuzzy munchkins, Lisa and Idgie
