Addresses here so you FML folks in these states can send Thank You letters or
cards to these very busy folks who are helping save your ferrets' lives!!!!

North Dakota -- Okay -- JUST got through to Dr. Schuler and North Dakota
automatically follows the latest Compendium.
Dr. Larry Schuler, State Veterinarian
Board of Animal Health, Department of Agriculture, 600 E. Boulevard Ave.,
6th floor (Know this looks like an error but it's from the AVMA Directory.)
Bismark, N.D. 58505-0020; 1-701-328-2655; fax 4567

Tennessee -- several minutes later -- JUST off the phone from speaking with
Dr. Swinger and found him to be EXCEEDINGLY knowledgeable about rabies and
about ferrets and rabies. Turns out that by policy Tennessee had already
stopped most ferret sacrifices three years ago, and the Compendium further
simplifies things. He has already distributed copies of the Compendium
(and given notice that even ferrets which have gotten out for a couple of
days in a rabies endemic area should now have quarantine) to 95 county
health departments, ACAT (Animal Control Association of Tennessee, the
Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, and the Tennessee College of
Veterinary Medicine, as well as speaking of it in 5 workshops, and
including it in a soon-to-be-distributed memo. Tennessee BY RULES AND
REGULATION follows the latest Compendium of Animal Rabies Control.
Gary L. Swinger, DVM, MPH, Director, Infectious Disease Program,
Tennessee Department of Health, 4th Floor, Cordell Hull Building,
Nashville, TN 37247-4911; 1-615-532-8514; fax 741-3857
