It was a lovely day at de Bridge. SaraFerret was trying to crochet
little toys for farm ferrets who had no one. One toy done, then
another, wow this was going faster than she had thought and before
she knew it she had over twenty done. Her plan was to get two dozen
completed. However, she heard a knock on her door and little Serena
ran to open it and in came Mimi, the little girl courier, with a note
in her paw. She said,

"SaraFerret, there is a ferret getting ready to cross the bridge and
people have made a special request for you to greet him. There are
others from the same clan here already. Do you want me to go fetch
them?"

I took de note and read it.. Den I raced to de entrance and Mimi went
to get de requested fuzzies. Sigh! De sable fuzzy had already crossed
de bridge and was wandering down de path. But I managed to meet up with
him and I introduced myself,

"Hi I am SaraFerret and I am de bridgegreeter. Welcome to your new
forever home. Sorry I wasn't at de entrance when you came across. Here
you will have no more pain or suffering. You will run on green grass
forever and have lotsa friends. Did I mention de fun and games?"

De little boy looked at me and said dejectedly, "My name is Peppa and I
belong to Mum Teresa and Dad William. D'ya happen to know them? Where
are these friends? Am I going to have to hang around with you? I mean I
am sure you are nice and all that. But I really would like to hang with
the guys. Besides you are kinda thin and puny like. I don't think you
could keep up with me. Oops I didn't mean to be smart- aleck. I am just
used to being with the guys-I guess its a guy thing. While I am here
d'ya think you could fix this zipper thing so I could go back home and
be with my family and forget about this bridge. I would just as soon
pass it up."

I just sighed a bit and said, "Uh Peppa, I don't know your folks. As to
your zipper why look at yourself. You are already fixed. You look as
good as new. However dere is no going back. Once you are here, dis is
your new home. But really it is quite nice."

Just den, Chrony, one of de NZ fuzzies, stepped out from behind de
bushes and said, "Well hi, my lad. What a handsome one you are. I am
sure this young lady ferret didn't take offense at what you said.
Besides she knows how us guys are. Now let me tell you all about these
wings you are going to get. Now you see what I have. You are going to
get your very own pair."

Well, that brightened Peppa up a lot. So off de three of us went down
de garden path to de Wing House where de wings were stored. We opened
de door and on de counter was a big box (of course). Peppa opened de
box and took out his wings--black with red stripes. Chrony helped him
put on his wings and I adjusted his halo. Den he ran to de big vanity
mirror and gazed at his reflection. Den he turned to me and said, "Gee
I wish Mum and Dad could see me now." Den I gots and idea!

We went out de door and we met others from de NZ clan who introduced
theirselves: Shawnee, Ash, Siteva, Chocolate, Argun, and Bridge. We
went on down de path to de Misting Pond and sat down beside de cool
clear water and with one swish we saw a vision of his mum and dad
appear. Peppa got so excited he twitched his raison nose and started
waving and dooking with all of his might.

"Mum and Dad, I love you so much. Thank you for loving me. I have met
up with some NZ chums here. I know we can get a game of rugby going
too. I have wings now and soon I will be able to fly. Oh yes I don't
hurt anymore."

Then he began to throw hugs and kisses and a wag of his tail and laid
dem on a nearby shooting star and by de time you should read dis it
should have landed dere. And with another swish de vision was gone.

We headed down de road to de NZ Clan's Cottage where a party was
planned. Dere was music a-playing and food was laid out. I was invited
to stay and perhaps go to de Otter Mudslide later dat day. But it had
been a hectic day. And I knew better than to push my luck.

As I went back home I was so happy dat Peppa had found his chums and he
was not stuck with a thin puny girl fuzzy for a playmate. Those NZ
fuzzies looked pretty good-sized.

Lovey and hugs,
SaraFerret, bridgegreeter
