Many thanks to everyone who mailed me re Oliver - I am very pleased to say
that he is now taking an interest in things. He just doesn't lie where he
is placed now but is wandering around exploring, he's still not 100% but I
guess these things take time.

I'm still adding some glucose to his water bottle and he has a supply of
Ferret Complete chow for when he wants a snack.

We know that he can hear - well at least he can hear a Mk II Phaser being
fired (Classic Star Trek version). His eye sight might be degenerating but
he can judge small gap when he wants to jump from an armchair to the settee.
However we think that perhaps he has tunnel vision. Anyway sight isn't the
sense that a ferret relies on, Kurt says "There ain't no lights down a
rabbit hole, it's really dark down there!" I guess Kurt should know as he
has been down rabbit holes.

One theory put forward re Oliver's behaviour was that it could be stress
related. He had to fend for himself for about 2 months - heaven knows what
horrible experiences he had just trying to survive. He probably existed on
a diet of slugs, snails, worms and the like. He was very thin when we got
him.

Anyway he's now getting lots of TLC and hopefully it won't be too long
before he starts chooking and doing the weasel war dance:-)

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

Sheila
