Gov. Michael Rounds (R) of South Dakota, the Bush administration, and
the U.S. Forest Service may soon allow the poisoning of prairie dogs on
public land in Buffalo Gap National Grassland. As most of you know the
Prairie Dogs are the main food source for our Black-Footed friends.
Buffalo Gap is the only site that has been successful with ferret
recovery. You can visit Defenders of Wildlife to sent a petition to
the U.S. Department of Agriculture and to Gale Norton, Secretary of
Interior. You do have to sign up, I'm hoping that this doesn't stray
people away. It's actually very nice because if you come back to the
site to send other petitions they are automatically filled out for you
all you have to do is hit send. Since we all take time to read the
digests, please take 2 minutes to send a letter. Follow this link for
more info http://www.defenders.org/den/dl000124.html
The story is down at #6, click the link that says DEN action center, to
sign up. If you would like to compose your own message, I know some of
you are good at this, here's the info.
