Has anyone ever tried *trains* as an option for transport? It may not be
less expensive, but it was my impression (perhaps wrongly) that people (at
least train personel) have access to the luggage compartments...which
*could* mean that, in the event of a delay, someone can keep an eye on the
live animals. I don't know how they are about pets in a "cabin" car...
possibly some would be flexable, especially if they aren't full. Luggage
compartments probably wouldn't be any better than planes as far as
heat/cold go, but at least someone should be able to have access to them
to check?
