Hello, I have a question. First a little background. My inlaws decided to
purchase a ferret after meeting our adorable trio. It is a marshall farms
ferret who has been raised on L/M? ferret food. We feed our three kitten chow
because our vet did not reccommend the marshel farms ferret food(fish based?).
Plus, once they tried the kitten chow they refused to finish the the ferret
food they were purchased with. The opposite appears to be true for the new
ferret. After one day of not eating kitten food they went to the pet shop
where the ferret was purchased. The owner said that of course the ferret would
not eat kitten chow and that it would in fact kill a ferret because all cat
food contains a medicine to combat urinary tract infections- even if it was not
listed on the ingredients. Now I am very doubtful of this information as a
high quality kitten chow was what was reccommended to us by our vet and if I
recall correctly Dr. Williams mentioned that he had also fed his ferrets
cat/kitten food. Is this a ploy to get them to buy the more expensive ferret
food? Is this brand good or is it also fish based. My brother-in-law
mentioned that it had a strong odor and was reddish. Any info would be greatly
appreciated.
