Dot rolled into town (Rochester) Monday afternoon. What a sweet little
ferret she is! Her tumor was a nasty looking thing, but not as bad as
it looked. Much of it was simply scab. It was removed today and Dot
is resting comfortably with her new vet tech buddies. They were all
smitten by Dot. I'll have more specifics tomorrow.

Dot looks to be 4-5 years old after examining her teeth, nails and
fur - you know how some ferrets just look old? That is how Dot looked
to me; and old body with a young spirit. I suggested a BG be done
after listening to Mom talk about her behavior and as suspected she
is suffering from insulinoma.

Momma is a young adult who truly loves her ferret(s) and has learned a
great deal about tumors, adrenal disease and insulinoma in 24 hours.
Her education will continue tomorrow as we meet to go over some of the
most important points in Dot's future health. I have pulled together
items to help get them started on better ferret health care and items
donated to my kids that no longer hold their interest. I'm hopeful they
will help Dot play and also be able to remain warmer (she is missing
fur from her shoulders back).

This morning (Tuesday) the Ferret Meals on Wheels rolled into the vet
clinic with two choices of soup on the menu. Dot sampled both and
filled her belly well. After dining she allowed her head and belly to
be rubbed them excused herself to her sleepy sack. Her favorite recipe
has been mixed and written down for Momma to take with her and make a
part of her daily routine.

Dot will head back to Ft. Drum with her Mom tomorrow minus her little
tumor beret. She'll have meds to treat her insulinoma and a Deslorelin
implant which was injected while she was under anesthesia from her
surgery. Her Mom and Dad are moved by all the generosity of our great
ferret community. I have simply asked that she "pass it on" by helping
another in need and be certain she thanks all those who helped her help
Dot.

Thanks again for your generosity. It was accomplished primarily by
small donations that added up so as I said before; if you want to help
and are only able to donate a few dollars - donate the few dollars they
do make a huge difference.
