First, I want to thank the many people who e-mailed me with advice and
words of support for my two very sick little ferrets. I was amazed at
the response, and appreciated it very much. If I haven't thanked you
personally, it's only because my time is consumed with ferret health care
right now.

Shawn has been home since Friday, and seems to be improving. He has
definitely gained weight, but still has very runny stools. He has eaten
a small amount of meat, and some baby food, but always grinds his teeth
as he's eating it. The only thing he takes willingly (no grinding) is
Sustacal and Pedialyte. I have been forcing him to take some ScienceDiet
A/D each day, as well as some duck soup. He's certainly more alert, and
even wrestled with me a bit this morning after his breakfast. I don't know
if I should expect his stool to be too solid if he's only on a very liquid
diet. But I'm pleased with his weight gain and good attitude. My
instincts tell me he has turned the corner.

Rose is still at the vet, but is definitely coming home tomorrow, whether
the vet wants her to or not. After seeing the improvement in Shawn, I'm
convinced this is the place for her to be. Her weight has been stable at
around a pound for 3 days (her top weight was 1.9). She still has an IV,
and the vet is concerned because she still has diarrhea, but so does Shawn,
and he's still improving. I think half the reason Shawn is doing so well
is that he's home and being loved and coddled by yours truly!

Thanks again for all the help -- this is a great bunch of folks!
Joanne
