My wife and I will be moving from New Jersey to Columbia, SC this January
and, as ferret owners, we have a few questions for anyone out there that
may be familiar with the state and city:

1) Does SC allow ferrets?
2) Does anyone know of a good ferret vet and/or pet store in the area?
3) It seems that apartment communities are far more pet friendly than the
northeast. Still, being we own three ferrets, does anyone think we would
suffer hardship trying to find a community that would take us with our
little ones? Is it better to just not admit having them and sneak them in?
No one would hear as long as the apartment had carpetting. Any suggestions
regarding this part would be most helpful. I tend to favor the "sneak"
option and then tell them later (if it's pets are allowed).

On a seperate ferret related matter: our skinny ferret has recently started
packing on a few ounces. Here in NJ the weather is changing so I attribute
the extra ounce for the pounce to be due to his instinctual seasonal weight
change. Does that sound likely? Anyone else experiencing such a change?
The other two boys are pretty much stable weightwise but they are already
pretty big.

Please email me directly as I do not often get an opportunity to check the
ferret list (I have an old computer so to download the list and view takes
quit a while with a 486-25). Thank you for any help advice that can be
offered.

Sincerely,
Jack & Melissa (feeble humans)
