Hi, Jaymi, and everyone else,

If your ferrets are eating more and pooping more, that means that either
1) the food you are using now (TFS) is less dense than the Totally Ferret
you fed before, or 2) it's less nutritious, so the fuzzies have to eat
more to get the nutrition they need. More food means more waste products
they can't use means more poop.

When we moved our ferrets from Kaytee FortiDiet to Totally Ferret about two
years ago, we saw a dramatic reduction in poop and in odor. It's one of
the reasons I try to tell people that TF isn't as expensive as they think
it is. If your ferrets need less of it, it lasts longer, and the cost per
day of feeding may actually be similar to or lower than a supposedly
cheaper food that just isn't as dense or nutritious.

I really like The Ferret Store, and they get lots of my business,
especially when the local stores are out of something my fuzzies need.
Let's face it, though: their prices are high. For example, The Ferret
Store charges $39.95 for a 15 lb. bag of Totally Ferret (no shipping, no
tax, though), while Discount Pet Supply in Raleigh and Cary, NC charges me
$31.99 plus tax for the same bag with my TriFL discount. I know there are
other stores in the area (Animal Friends, for example) that are about the
same price as Discount Pet. The Ferret Store is fantastic if you don't
live near a store that carries TF.

My point: your ferrets are probably better off, and you'll have less to
clean, with a denser food. I've found that both TF and Zupreem are really
good, and my ferrets like both. We mainly give them TF. 8-in-1 Ultimate
is also supposed to be good, but my weasels gave it eight paws down. They
won't eat it. Of course, YMMV.

All the best,
Caity and the exuberant eight
