just a ponderance (or twelve) on "dumping" of weasels.
 
of my dozen fuzzkids, two were found wandering the streets.  one was
an adolescent, about 5 or 6 months at the time, who had gotten out
(perhaps some of you remember this?).  His not-very-caring-sounding
owner ultimately did call, 2 weeks after i got him, to reply to an ad i
had placed.  I 'lost' the phone number, and the man never called back,
confirming my suspicion that he wasn't all that concerned.  So Tannis
wasn't dumped, per se, but probably was somewhat neglected at his
previous home.  He is a total sweetheart.  complete and utter mama's boy,
gives great kisses (despite a tendency to 'clean' one's nostrils), loves
humans, is just a wonder.
 
trixie, i suspect, was very likely dumped.  she came from the shelter in
fort myers, had been found wandering the streets.  she was very adrenal,
with an extremely large vulva and minor hair loss.  she follows my every
step around the house, follows all humans around, but doesn't much care
for cuddling (though she will give kisses).  she *doesn't* like being in
a carrier, but is reasonably well-behaved (other than preferring to go
next to that litter bax that in it) when out of the cage.
 
i have no idea what all this suggests, other than that ferrets who
have been without human companionship for some length of time tend
to appreciate it more.  (of course, my four who got out way back when
didn't change for their wanderings).
 
*shrug* it's a thought. ;)
